Avondale has experienced rapid growth since 1990. The population of Avondale doubled during the 1990’s and is projected to do the same in the current decade with an annual growth rate of 12.9 percent. While growth is expected to slow in the future, at build-out the population is estimated to fall within the range of 127,000 to 147,000 persons. Current population is approximately 70,000.

The city is also located within 15 miles of ASU West, which serves nearly 8,000 students on its northwest Phoenix campus.

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Avondale opened in 2004 and has 287,000 square feet of facilities, offering training in automotive technology.

Other schools close to Avondale include ASU Downtown, Thunderbird School of International Management, Midwestern University and University of Phoenix.
