At the time of incorporation in 1978, the population of Prescott Valley was 1,521. By the 1985 U.S. Special Census, the town had grown to 5,471. The 1990 Census reflected the continuation of the fast-paced growth as Prescott Valley became the fastest growing city in Arizona, outside of the Phoenix metropolitan area, with 8,987 people. The 2000 U.S. Census estimates the total population of Prescott Valley at 25,535 persons. The latest (2006) census estimates the population at 35,000.
Goals for attracting businesses to Prescott Valley encompass retail, services, and industrial, with a special emphasis on technology. With its communications network, the town is poised to attract technology companies and become a regional center for high tech.
